"UNSTABLE", A Poem By Adedeji Raphael — Pawners Paper

Its a romantic poem that emphasizes in the sacrifices that have been made in regards to love, those appreciated and those rebutted.

Lovers

Three years back,
Ours was a flame kindled
with the mythic firewoods of doubts
burning low to be vulnerable
to the shades of shallow darkness,
Was a flame lit by the wanderlust emotions
of a lone warrior craving to caress the scarred cold face of war
veiled down by the vine stretches of peace
from the outskirt of a silent shy world
Two years back,
Ours was a story of torn pages
which held the jewel of undaunted memories
enclosed in the layers of a jealous time,
Of memories when our names were reincarnated into food epithet
to twist our lungs and widen our smiles,
Of memories when subjects haunted our dreams in form of a fierce ghostly teacher,
Of memories written by a pen with a same mind
which the hand naively discarded
A year back,
Ours{mine} was a torn drum beaten by a hand
hoping to sound to the lyrics dancing in your mind,
Ours{mine} was the love canto encased in roses
gifted to a maiden who lives by the tongues of many men,
Ours{mine} was a flawed song composed by a heart
to a heart whose ears admired perfect bliss,
Present year,
Ours is a game of chess
set ceremoniously at the end
of two masters clinging to clumsy past
raided by aristocratic kings and queens
mentored through the brimstone eyes of bishops
over stagnant pawns sacrificed to the starved gods
of a barbaric lands, who milk hope of intimacy
to a land savaged by the icy touches of solitude
Present day,
Ours is a broken glass shattered for a part~my part to be set free.
